Find Accommodation near 'Cotebrook Shirehorse Centre'

Cotebrook Shirehorse Centre is situated near Tarporley approximately 10 miles from Chester. The Centre and Country Park are set in 50 acres of beautiful countryside and as well as up to 30 horses there is a good selection of other animals and birdlife to see.

Access into the centre and around the farmyard is on hard surfaces but manual wheelchair users may require some light assistance. There are informative photographic displays (at a good height and with good sized font) and a video in the exhibition centre. Wheelchair users and those with limited mobility can get close access to the rabbits, chickens, pigs etc and some of the horses in the farmyard area.

On most days informative guided talks about the centre and the horses can be given but please ring beforehand if you wish to ensure this is available.

Please note this is farmland and the outer fields where the majority of the horses including many of the mares and foals are grazing are accessed via grassed paths which have steep inclines in places and can be muddy in wet weather (on our visit the surface was firm despite recent rain but pushing was hard going).

The Lakeside Cafe and shop has good access and can provide light lunches and cream teas however the adjacent Alvanley Arms as it is a 16th century building has limited access and no designated toilets .

Prebooking isn't necessary for wheelchair users however it is advisable for groups, particularly if they would like the informative guided talks which Alistair is happy to do at any time of the week if pre booked.
