Nestled high up in the Brecon Beacons National Park is 'Pen yr Heol' (Head of the Road) an old shearing barn that has been skilfully converted to create comfortable holiday accommodation whilst retaining all its history, charm and ambience. The property is set in peaceful countryside on the 300-acre grounds of Pentwyn Farm which has been farmed by the owners family for generations. There are magnificent views over the Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and up towards the peaks of Pen y Fan and Cribyn. Despite its secluded spot it is also conveniently still within easy reach of Brecon and the national park's main attractions, it makes great base to unwind and explore the area.

The barn sleeps up to 10 people in four bedrooms two of which are located on the ground floor, an en-suite double and one twin there is also a spacious wet-room located on this level.

The large open plan living area has a well-equipped kitchen with large dining table and chairs, a light and airy sitting room with french windows on two sides making the most of the spectacular views. There is a wood burning stove for which logs are provided and a separate children's tv room which has a sofa, TV/DVD, a well-stocked toy box and plenty of books. After exploring the local area the drying room provides ample space for hanging wet clothes! Pets are welcome and there's an enclosed garden with patio.

The historic market town of Brecon is only seven miles away and is home to a range of boutique shops, a traditional market, an art deco theatre and the splendid Brecon Cathedral. Located slightly further afield is the picturesque town of Crickhowell, the 'town of books' Hay-on-Wye and Abergavenny with its own share of independent shops as well as some lovely cafes.

There are several areas of broadleaf woodland and designated sites of special scientific interest alongside the Nant Menascin River which runs through the grounds. The owners keep horses on a DIY livery basis, so if you would like to take your horse with you on holiday you can contact the owners to discuss the possibilities.

Other facilities include, WiFi, Highchair & Cot.

The farm has another cottage on site and camping facilities which may be useful for larger families if accessible accommodation is not required for everyone. Please refer to the owners own website for full details.
