For most of its 35-mile length the the Monmouthshire and Brecon canal (originally built as a means to transport coal and iron) runs through the Brecon Beacons National Park with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The section of canal within Talybont on Usk is wheelchair accessible on good surfaced paths in either direction for a short way from the Lift Bridge located opposite the village stores.

There is plenty of seating along the route and some interpretation signage about the area.

 NB There are no designated accessible toilets at Talybont-on-Usk, the nearest designated accessible toilet is at the Llansantffraed lay-by on the A40 or alternatively there are wheelchair accessible toilets open daily for public use within the theatre at Brecon canal basin approximately 15 minutes drive away ..
