Disability Snowsport UK is a people-centred organisation with a unique sense of purpose: that anyone regardless of their disability can take part in and enjoy the thrill of snowsports. The Charity provides adaptive skiing instruction on snow from its base here in the Cairngorms from January to April each year (weather dependant).

The centre is located on the same site as the Cairngorm Mountain Railway and is fully equipped with the most up to date adaptive equipment and caters for all disabilities. No physical attributes are needed to ski with the charity but there are upper weight limits depending on the individual instructor.

The lower station has an accessible toilet (photo 7) but it is quite small so we recommend using the better sized one in the adjacent Storehouse restaurant (photo 8). The wheelchair accessible entrance to the restaurant is around the right hand side of the building. Alternatively there is now also an accessible toilet at the Outfitter Store (photo 9) which was not onsite at our researchers visit.

Please note that whilst our own researchers have visited the main site where the facilities are very good, they have not tried out the skiing themselves.

For more information with regard to availability of lessons or snow conditions please contact skischool@disabilitysnowsport.org.uk

The charity also run regional activities on dry ski slopes at various centres throughout the UK, for more information on these please check out the regional section of their website. Our researchers have visited two of these sites (Lecht Visitor Centre and Tamworth Snowdome) both of which have designated toilets, cafes and designated parking.
