BDWSA Yorkshire & Central are always looking to recruit new skiers. The British Disabled Water Ski Association is a registered charity who offer water skiing at a subsidised rate to anyone that has a disability, regardless of what it is!

Full Story

BDWSA was formed in 1979 by Tony Edge, who had lost a leg in a flying accident in World War 2. The BDWSA is affiliated to British Water Ski (The governing body of the sport.)

Yorkshire and Central BDWSA is a roving region that run water skiing courses for disabled people mainly in Yorkshire and the East Midlands. They have however also been known to provide courses as far afield as Wales and the Lake District.

They have always been able to provide some kind of on the water experience to anyone willing to give it a go! They have a large range of specialised equipment to cater for almost every eventuality and even provide wetsuits and dry suits. Their fully trained instructors provide all the necessary training and support to ensure the best possible experience.

This year’s courses are not yet confirmed (at the time of writing) although they will be holding a week’s course in Derbyshire during August. For full details of this event please click here.

In recent years weekend courses have been held at the following places, although they are always looking for new venues, - Covenham (Lincolnshire) Treeton (nr Rotherham, S Yorkshire) Knaresborough (Near York) and Llyn Gerionydd (Snowdonia, Wales).
