BSIP (Birmingham Social Inclusion Project) is a project run by the Charity Action for Children. It specifically targets children and young people with a disability aged 0 - 19 in the Birmingham area to source for and support in inclusive activities.

Full Story

Funded by Birmingham City Council through the Aiming High for Disabled Children funding. The project works with disabled children, young people, families and service providers to enable disabled children and young people to access universal sports, leisure and arts activities in Birmingham.

After a visit to find out all about the individual, discuss their needs and discover what sort of activities they are interested in, the project will try to find an activity in the local area and provide a Support Worker who will assist the child/young person with travelling, making friends, building confidence and anything else that enables them to take part and enjoy the activity.

The project also works with activity providers to make sure that they receive any training they might need and give them advice and support so they are able to fully include disabled children / young people.

There is a referral criterion that needs to be met to receive this service.
