During December Ferry Meadows Country Park received the highly coveted Visit England Award achieving an overall ‘very good’ quality experience.

Full Story

The park covers 500 acres of lakes, trails and open spaces and sits within Nene Park. It has a Visitor Centre with adjacent garden area, a Watersports Centre and two cafes both with accessible outdoor eating areas. There are a wide variety of activities and regular events on offer throughout the year.
The rigorous independent assessment covered all aspects of the Park including pre-arrival information, the attractions on offer, the website, social media, toilets, cafés, the Visitor Centre and all other facilities. Visit England is confident that visitors to the park will enjoy “a rewarding, engaging and high quality country park visitor experience that meets expectations and in some areas, exceeds them”.
Teresa Wood, Visitor Services Manager at the Park, said “I am delighted that the Park has received this nationally recognised award. The assessors were particularly complementary about the wider engagement and community spirit in the Park as well as the visitor attractions. The report contains a number of relatively simple measures that, if implemented, will improve and enhance the visitor experience and we now plan to work through these to further improve the Park for its many visitors.”

Please note the parks Water Sports Centre and Lakeside Café is closed for rebuild and will re-open in the Spring. Once the works are complete the cafe will be almost doubled in size and a brand new extension will increase the space for water sports activities by nearly 50%, it will also give the cycle hire an exciting boost. We are hoping to revisit the park once the build is complete and will bring you up to date images and information then. If you have any questions regarding these changes in the meantime please contact the park directly.
