The first hotel in a new chain called Sleeperz recently opened in Cardiff. It has been specifically designed to provide stylish but affordable accommodation in this vibrant city centre location adjacent to Cardiff Central Railway Station and within easy wheeling distance of the main shopping area.

Its proximity to the station would make a really good destination for a city break for people who do not have their own transport or who wish to leave their car at home for a change.

To assist with the journey here is some general travel info for people with disabilities:-

Rail Travel

All travellers with disabilities are recommended to arrive at
least 30 mins before designated departure to allow time for
ramps and any assistance needed to be sourced even if you
have not booked assisted travel.

Assisted Rail Travel Service Information.
This must be booked with the operator of the station you are
travelling from but it will cover the entire journey even if your
destination station is run by another operator.

If you do not have a railcard and you purchase a 'standard or first class full open
return ticket', day single or open single and are a wheelchair user and will remain
seated in your wheelchair for the entire journey, you are still entitled to a 34 %
discount on the ticket price. You are also entitled to a 50% discount on a 'full day
return ticket'. If you need a companion/carer to accompany you whether you are a
child or an adult then they also will receive the above discount.

Children aged between 5 years and 15 years who are wheelchair users and remain
seated in their wheelchair the entire journey receive 75% discount on all the
above ticket prices.

Bus and Coach Travel

The hotel is also opposite the bus station and all the city buses have low floors and the taxi rank which has a large number of accessible vehicles is also adjacent. The station has step free access to all platforms either by lift or external ramp.

The National Express coach stop is situated within the bus station and there are accessible coaches on the routes from London, Heathrow and Gatwick to Cardiff.

National Express is introducing a new generation of coaches onto the UK network that feature a wheelchair lift incorporated into the passenger entrance. The easy access coach features a wider entrance and a completely flat floor throughout the coach to aid mobility for all. Other features include reclining leather seats, air conditioning and a large toilet.

The programme of routes is currently being rolled-out to incorporate the accessible coaches across the network, with the whole network being fully accessible by 2012.
